Animation

I was trying something new with my fractals, and I made this gif animation.
link here (16mb image) http://mkerala.com/u/di/XDU9/wheelgif1.gif

it is made from this piece

Now I am thinking about making HD video, but I have to learn basic scripting in Apophysis, oh and the render time will be enormous.

So does anyone have expirience with animation, or making videos in general?

Sure...here you go...

This art video was screened in my solo exhibition Self-Similarity, in 2011. I created it to be projected center of a 26' long feature wall.

It's based in the premise of self-similiarity/iteration & recursion of fractal properties. There were fused art glass pieces carrying the 'flow' between the digital canvas prints with the feature video central focus. All fractal based.

Apophysis rendering time enormous? May be setting parameters too high...

Nice vid.
No, normaly is the render time abou few hours for high res fractals, but for smooth video i will need 25frames/Sec in 1900x1080 so I suppose it will take a LOT of tiem to render.

I go 30 frames per sec with no problems. And thanks ;) Your animated gif turned out well.

Currently creating videos to 1920 x 1080 HD....depends on parameters -- you can up the quality without huge render times. Takes practise.

Large render times not an issue anyway -- always have lots more I can work on while rendering in the background.

What RAM are you working with/overall capacity?

Yeah i will play with quality setings, before rendering whole video.
I have 8gb and core i7 but its a laptop so not the best machine, but much better then my old C2D laptop :D . I am using 6 cores for rendering.

Upping to 16GB...find 8 a bit slow. Adjust/experiment your Apophysis settings & you'll be pleased with what you can produce in a shorter period of time.

Checking in with my latest animation completed today -- improved capacity with 16GB made this come together well.

752 frames, 1024 x 768 rendered to .avi in approx. 45 minutes. 30 fps/frames per second

Experimenting with a variety of 3Dmodeling programs & having a ball :)

Nice animations all! Here is a trailer from a 22 minute film rendered in 1920 x 1080 resolution I finished about 2 months ago:
