Joy In Artists' Success

Share your experiences.....Excitement building here in anticipation of a friend's terrific solo art show opening at our public art gallery on the 19th -- today's headline images in our local paper "Lee Beaton to hold first solo show" features one of her beautiful works

http://www.portagedailygraphic.com/

Enjoy the article ....

I'm loving the light she's cast -- a proverbial supernova :)

Incredible gallery -- features a new exhibit or installation every few months, and showcases works from Manitoba and across the country. 200 running feet of wall space and approximately 1700 square feet of floor space.

Note -- most public galleries work 2 to 5 years ahead -- submitting proposal for juried submission, plannning & implementing a body of work to fill a space this size is one fine bit of focus & dedication....

Aww.....this is wonderful Carmen. Thank you for sharing this happy news.

I particularly enjoyed this part of the article.

“She was eager to learn, passionate and enthused to get going,” said Hathaway, who also taught Beaton acrylic painting in 2007.

I mean....as a teacher, that has to be the most rewarding experience, teaching a person who is passionate to learn. =)
Watching those seeds grow into an accomplished artist has to be pure joy.

There is an immeasurable value in teaching.

Thanks Angel -- that's it, exactly...

Teaching -- works both ways -- so many artists have empowered & inspired me in the course of teaching....

Look forward to more joyful shares :)

From today: my husband teaches guitar part-time...one of his students came in in a sad mood -- our weather's gloomy today..drizzle and all that.

In no time flat, apparently -- they were improvising a jazzy, down tempo version of Jingle Bell Rock -- and the smile on my husband's face telling me about this no doubt was a mirror image of what the young man wound up wearing on his visage as an epiphany took hold.

To Rae's delight -- he exclaimed THIS is how I'm playing it at the Christmas concert!

Joy, to the world ;)

I know exactly what you mean. It does go both ways, which makes the rewards immeasurable. =D

There is nothing quite like collaboration.

There is so much power in music. I can't imagine life without it.

Even witnessing the effects of teaching makes me smile.
Good will.

Nothing quite like it, for sure ....

Hard copy of Lee's article came in today's paper...I'm over the moon for her, and her accomplishments :)

Great idea she had in creating a toy & food drive at the gallery while her show's on ....what a woman!

I can see that idea becoming a permanent fixture there...

Championing this artist -- not every day you step out on the stage this way -- go Lee! :)

Check out her painting of Old Montreal above the article

Jeff -- thanks for reading it -- she's a paradigm for what it takes to 'get there' -- pro-active & passionate.

Exciting buildup in progress now -- they'll be hanging her show Monday while the gallery's closed -- opens Tuesday -- think the gallery will be packed to overflow for the official opening on Thursday :)

I was wondering if I could find some pictures of her work, other than the one listed in the article.

Can you show some of her work?

A wee bump for joy...PS..It was also Lee's birthday -- how's that for a double celebration?

And yes, the cake was delicious, and yes -- she enjoyed one fine rendition of the birthday song from everyone there :)

Thank you Carmen, I had a great time. But...I completely forgot to take pics!

Aww...perfect timing, double celebration. Love the presentation of her name and show.
Great space....the art shines on the walls.

Good to hear -- too bad about your pix -- next time, eh?!

She was absolutely in her element -- in her presentation she shared the process of what all was involved to get to this point -- terrific accomplishment :)

The artist name & exhibit tile are created for each show by a signage artist -- a professional standard for galleries.
