WILLIAM DEY PHOTOGRAPHY
I began my career working as a fashion stylist in Chicago, then moved to New York City, where I worked alongside some of the best photographers in the fashion industry for 12 years. During this period I was encouraged by professionals I knew to take advantage of my affinity for photography and visual composition. As soon as I began experimenting with the camera, I knew I had found my creative muse.
I started shooting portraits and fashion models initially, but after relocating to Palm Springs several years ago, I felt compelled to begin shooting all the other beautiful things here in the desert, such as Mid-Century Modern architecture, classic cars, and the ever-changing visual scope of the desert itself. I love the desert lifestyle, and very much enjoy shooting in the Palm Springs area, even including it as a backdrop in my portraiture and fashion shots.
I am also involved in helping many charities through my work, including The Friends of Palm Springs Animal Shelter, The Palm Desert American Heart Association, The Living Desert, Boo2Bullying, The Human Rights Campaign, Tools For Tomorrow and many others. I am also a member of the Artists Council at The Palm Springs Art Museum and a member of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
My work has been shown at the Palm Springs Art Museum (ACE Exhibition), University of CA-Riverside Palm Desert, Creare Gallery-El Paseo Palm Desert, Savage Gallery Palm Springs, Gallery 446 Palm Springs, and Archangel Art Collective Gallery Palm Springs.
I am currently on a photographic journey, photographing the wonderful city of Chicago. I have exhibited my new work at the Herman Miller Showroom at the Merchandise Mart Chicago and at Venue West's DIFFA/Chicago 'Art for Life' Art Exhibition.
