Influenced by opportunities for creative self-expression in his Montessori grade school education and parents who supplied art materials and an ever-expanding space to create, Taylor Winn focused on art at an early age. He began selling his paintings at age 17 and went on to earn his BA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. For two consecutive years (2005, 2006) Winn was the Juror’s Prize recipient of the Austin Jones Center Ahead of Their Time exhibition. In 2005, inspired by the freedom and physicality in the approach of post-war Abstract Expressionists, Winn began to develop his style of highly gestural, large-scale, abstract environments of color spanning to 16 feet in dimension. His early paintings were analyzed by researchers at Stanford University, Menlo Park and Stony Brook University in published studies (2009, 2011) on fractal analysis authentication of Jackson Pollock’s works.

The artist’s 2011 solo alumni exhibit at the University of Texas at Austin, Taylor Winn Large Works 2005 – 2011, featured a collection of large canvases with signature comets, tornadoes and bubbling rivers of paint exhibiting the artist’s commitment to color and the properties of his materials. In 2012, Winn’s painting, On the Lake, was selected by Austin Art Boards for a two-year rotation in Austin as a 14 x 48-foot billboard. In his 2013 solo exhibit, Taylor Winn XL Paintings, at Austin's Bass Concert Hall, Winn presented a selection of his largest works from the XL series featuring signature coiling white calligraphy and black linear forms traversing distinctively wide fields of color. Working on large-scale canvas and panel using repurposed paints, paint skins, Venetian plaster and metallic alkyds at his studio on Barton Creek in Austin, Texas, Winn has exhibited at regional and national venues since 2005.

Taylor Winn joined Fine Art America on March 20th, 2014.
