As a retired teacher, having taught for 35 years, I spend a lot of time in our many flower gardens, with water features, metal sculptures, and many flowering trees, bushes and shrubs. My wife gave me a digital camera for a Christmas present a few years ago, and I started taking photos of the many types of flora and fauna on our property. This became an enjoyable hobby for me, to enjoy the outdoors, and capture some of the beautiful photo opportunities that our gardens have provided. I especially love close-ups of flowers and insects, and basically anything that has something unique to capture on film.
I have entered several contests in our area, and even won some recognition with my photos. I have posted on Face Book and am now a part of Fine Art America, which displays many artworks by artists around the world. It is fun to see what others are doing with their photography and is a joy to share their photographs and mine with the art communities.
My philosophy regarding my photography is that if it is unique, eye catching, striking, beautiful, or just viewing mother nature at her best, then I will take photos of these to share with others.
