I have had a life-long interest in art and craft and music. Regarding education, I come from a technical background, being trained in radiography.

Most would consider me self-taught as a textile artist, but I prefer to call it self-directed. That's because I give credit to the many contributions of my like-minded friends, quilt guilds, and few workshop teachers as well as all of my treasured books and periodicals. I am a student of all things pertaining to composition and surface design on cloth. My textile art usually begins as a piece of white cotton, or silk, or even a piece of cloth that is being recycled. It is then transformed through dyeing or rusting, painting, printing, hand writing, cutting, and stitching. The cloth becomes a panorama of amazing colors featuring interesting patterns and textures. Some works start with black cotton where color is removed to reveal hidden colors beneath. I work mainly in an abstract free form style, while borrowing heavily from traditional quilting techniques. I teach classes on surface design.

As a fairly avid photographer, I also use a mix of photographs of my many cloth designs and nature to create digital collages. Most of the offerings you see on this site are digital collage using my fabric designs or are original mixed media work.

I really love what I do!

I have work in private collections in the region and have been juried in to exhibits in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri.
