Hi I’m Ian Monk,

Hey, just between you and me, I’ll let you into a little secret, for my mid life crisis I chose to embark on a passionate affair with my photography.

It started off innocently enough a proper camera from my wife for my 50th birthday, but over the past 7 years it’s been a real roller coaster ride. Firstly I gave up my day job to go back to school; 1st class honors degree in Photography, then I caught a couple of International Awards; hours section winner UPOTY in 2009,2013 and finally, to my wife’s horror, made an exhibition of myself in public; 2012 Group Exhibition ‘ Remain in Light ‘ London and 2013 Solo Exhibition ‘ Visions of Glastonbury ‘ Newcastle.

Which hopefully demonstrates that I at least know one end of a camera from the other.

I’m based in the UK but certainly view the world as my potential studio and love nothing more than traveling with just my camera gear to soak in the atmosphere of locations both near and far. My aim is simply to show you how the world looks through my lens be it the historic or the modern, the beautiful or the ugly and sometimes even just the downright odd and quirky. Above all I try to capture what makes both people and places tick.

One other passion of mine is the who, what, why, when and where everyday objects we see and use today came from. Hence my Patent Art collection which has been brought together from months of research and dedicated restoration of original patent documents, archived in Patent Offices around the world.

Enough about me, as the most important person here right now is you, as you’ve got to decide if my art is worthy of a valuable place in your home, office or business. To try and make that decision as easy as possible for you, my galleries have been set up to allow you to search by whole collections, individual locations and categories, black and white only and even orientation as in landscape, portrait or square.

In many cases individual images have a choice of 2 or 3 styles to suit individual tastes and many topics contain related images which can be purchased as a series of images if required. It’s also worth noting that due to the high level of equipment used to capture these images many can be purchased up to the largest print sizes possible on FAA.
