Bob Desaulnier (born in 1946), a lifelong resident of CT. I am a self-taught artist and work in Watercolor and Gouache. Most of my painting ideas are abstracted from local scenery. Simplicity is central to my conception of beauty. Also, I like to play design against realism. I feel that each painting is a manifestation of the energy invested in an idea and suggests connections between the physical and metaphysical realms (as metaphor or symbol). Therefore, my work often contains a noticeable degree of abstraction. The picture plane functions as a surface on which the idea is expressed, rather than as a window looking out on nature.
