Terrific idea - there are not enough opportunities to showcase equestrian artworks! An internet art show brings together art that would never be presented together- diverse styles and from widespread geographies. Horses are challenging to paint and the special bond that a most painters of horse have with the animals shines through. It seems to me that capturing the essence of life and movement in a horse painting, often seems to bring out the height of an artist's creativity. It isn't about style, it is about spirit.

Please do hold a horse-in-art themed contest - regularly. At the least, a category of animals-in-art should be a regular class. How can one judge a beautiful dog against a sunlit semi-abstract landscape? In the past, sporting art category handled horses. But sport now is much less about horses.

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually have two contests in mind. I should do them more regularly, but have had difficulty having the time as I spend more time on the contests than the average admin does making sure the artwork follows the rules of the group and is at top print quality.

I love looking through the featured images and all the images in general. I have a Pinterest board where I pin Animal Photos and Art Images, and I'm always looking for the dramatic and different for that board - I don't have just any old animal photo - horse, cat, dog, whatever. I'd like to encourage all members of this group who have not yet enabled Pinterest interface to do so - if you have the FAA watermark on your images, it will be on the images in Pinterest . . . it's a great way to get new people exposed to FAA and perhaps buy something from you!

As far as qualifying for this contest, I think this group is doing great, and Jani is a very active and helpful moderator.

Thank you for your comment, Conni. I personally have sold art because they were first seen on Pintrest. One was an original. The buyer of the original saw my work on her mother's pin board and purchased an original drawing. Later, I met her in person at my studio and she purchased an original painting. Turns out she lived in the next town over from me. I would have never met her if it wasn't for Pintrest. So I agree. Do enable your Pintrest.

I'm not super active on Pintrest. I have an account, but never go on it; however, I do have many, many pins on several of my pieces.

I would love to see this art group receive recognition, Jani does a great job of administering what takes place within the group and she makes sure that the artwork uploaded meets and/or exceeds high standards of quality for print purposes. I have pinterest boards and the sharing with the equine art lovers from here creates traffic for exposure.
I'd like to see contests that promote the different styles of the artists, realistic only, abstract only, contemporary only etc. Happy to be a part of the group!
