Description
Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park, California.
Famous viewpoint loved by photographers just east of Furnace Creek. View overlooks interesting weathered canyons. View is a two minute walk from the parking lot. The best time to photograph Zabriskie Point is at dawn - face south to get the eroded badlands in their sunrise colors. If you arrive after dawn, face south and photograph the same badlands in their earth tone colors or face west to get the different badlands with the valley floor and mountains in the background. Zabriskie Point is where U2 shot the cover photo for their Joshua Tree album.

I have never visited Death Valley. But after seeing this wonderful capture you have given us, I sure would like to! F/V
Heidi Smith replied:
Thank you, Kellice. I didn't think I'd enjoy Death Valley nearly as much as I did. It really is a beautiful place. Just steer clear during the summer months. It was about 80 for the high when I went in early April.

Beautiful and hot. I heard Death Valley had temps up into 130 degrees?? Can that be? Love the colors that change with the sun.
Heidi Smith replied:
Thank you so much, Kathy. Yes, the highest recorded temperature there is 134. It was only in the 70's was I was there thankfully.
