This is the most beautiful painting! I feel lucky and blessed that I came across it! My husband and I honeymooned in Mo’orea and we had taken many pictures in front of this church. To find that Greg Collins painted it was such a joy! We will treasure it forever!

I was super-pleased with my photo print purchase! Like many people, I’m sure, when making online purchases there’s always just a little voice of skepticism in the back of my mind. I knew I liked the image, but had to roll the dice that it would look good in person, the frame would be adequate, etc. I must say it exceeded even my hopeful expectations! First of all, the packing was stellar. The photo print did look great in person, and the framing was WAY better than I was expecting! It was ready to go with a sturdy hanging wire already in place. Unfortunately it was a gift, so I don’t have a photo of it on my wall! I did, however, open and inspect it before wrapping it and re-shipping (in the same stellar packing!). I would easily recommend FineArtAmerica and will happily shop with them again in the future…worry free!

Artist's Description
Here's a field sketch I touched up digitally. From the top of a grassy knoll, I looked across the valley hay meadows to the North Platte River nestled in its cottonwoods beneath tiers of rocky bluffs. Far in the distance you can see Sheep's Head, a small foothill of Elk Mountain in the Snowy Range. This view is of great historical significance because the Overland Trail crosses the area. Wagon trains and stagecoaches used to venture through this country, often attacked by the tribes who were understandably angry about the Sand Creek Massacre, which made them terribly afraid and determined to keep the invaders out. This isn't the exact spot where the Overland crossed the river, but near it. Warriors burned every stage station along this section of the trail. Soldiers came, stationed at a fort, now a ranch where I have seen the old bunkers built into the hills. These pits, fortified with stone breastworks, are now full of rattlesnakes. In the creek valley leading to the fort, a t...
About Dawn Senior-Trask
I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers. My artwork consists of all these things and more...
