During one of my trips to India, I came across this scene, which reminded me of my childhood. We lived in Mumbai, but were fortunate enough to have the resources to have a wood-burning stove in the yard. Every day seemed like a picnic as we gathered fallen branches throughout the garden to use as fuel while my dad tended the fire. In the morning he would warm water for our baths, and then the embers would be used to roast potatoes, yams or mango seeds, depending on the season.
