These old sand dunes
protect the island from the tides.
Seagrasses grow
on the embankments
along the beach,
dune grass reaching up
into the sky...
This is low tide,
when the waves have pulled back into the sea, leaving behind a vast and wide beach of wet sand, wrinkled with the retreating waves. The sun has just crested the horizon on the east coast, shimmering golden on the placid sea and ripples of waves.
