Description
Post Oak Lake, located in a less traveled area of the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, Oklahoma. In the distance, you can see the back side of Elk Mountain, along with some other smaller, unnamed peaks. This is the part of the park where the ranger told us that the centipedes and tarantulas come out at night to play. The ranger actually seemed to think I would want to see this. Right. While I was there, somewhat in the evening, and the sun was sinking lower, the centipedes started to get active. At this point, I knew it was time to leave. Quickly.

Beautiful artwork. Somehow Oklahoma never came to mind when thinking of natural beauty. Thanks for sharing your visions. I will have to do more than drive through someday.

P.S. Love the backstory, too! :-)

Thanks....I don't like spider in general, but tarantulas? I get the chills just thinking about them....

A most glorious scene, Jeff! Wow -- wish I were there . . . or anywhere that looked like there. :-) Really beautiful work!

This is beautiful, Jeff. I've never been to Oklahoma, but this makes me want to change that!
Jeffrey Kolker replied:
Thanks Charles. Parts of Oklahoma are absolutely beautiful. This is one of those places...
