... Cypress trees love water and in the Everglades of South Florida, they grow in the swamps and marshes, their feet and 'knees' wet most of the time. Their knees are part of their root system and look like interesting gnarled pieces of driftwood laying across the surface of the land and water. This image was captured near sunset in the Grassy Waters Preserve. As the clear sky turns a deep evening tone of silver, the trees and marsh grasses are bathed in the brilliant light of the setting sun and the cypress trees are colored in a deep toned hues as they go dormant for the season...
