16" x 20" Atelier interactive acrylics (white and raw umber) on canvas panel
Based on a photo of my Grandfather in WW2. My Grandfather is on the white horse on the left of the painting. His cousin and best friend is on the horse by his side. Unfortunately, his mate was killed in action in New Guinea and this is possibly the last picture of them together.
I've always wanted to paint this picture but wasn't sure if I could pull it off. I set myself the challenge of painting it one hour at a time and I have to say that I'm really happy with the results.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
