While at the Central Park Zoo located in Midtown in New York City I was walking around and getting ready to leave after what I thought was a very great day of taking photos of various animals. It had been a while since I had been to the Central Park Zoo so I was very impressed with some of the additions to the animals and the overall changes in the construction of the zoo. As I was getting my cameras packed up I was walking over to an area where I saw a lot of people looking in and pointing. It was the Central Park Rain Forest habitat. It was beautifully done and had a large assortment of animals in it. Immediately I looked down and was drawn to this amazing colored bird called the Victoria Crowned Pigeon. It gets it name due to its crest on its head resembling a crown from the Queen Victoria monarch. The crest is amazing in itself as is blue with white tips at the end of the crest flairs. The pigeon is very large with a large maroon stomach and a black beak with a small black mask across its face. Its main colors are a blueish-grey color throughout its body along with a red irises. It is a ground dwelling bird and known for being from New Guinea and habitats the rain forests in New Guinea
