Urbanesque - mixed media collage on paper.
In this collage I used photographs of buildings taken in St. Petersburg, Russia, hand painted papers, acrylic paint and crayons.
I like the freedom in the arrangement of elements within a composition. I look at collage elements as a puzzle which I have to put together.
As the piece develops it reveals new sets of challenges. Some changes happen spontaneously, some need careful analysis of the composition.
During my ongoing dialog with a changing piece and my response to the change I try to achieve some harmony and create a balanced composition.
