Small trees with thickened stems:The leaves are lobed,coated with dense white hairs at the base and carried on long petioles.The flowers are large and lilac-pink in colour.Woody fruits bear long spines with hooked ends like small harpoons.Common on limestone soils around Toliara in the north to lake Tsimanampesotse in the south.The decoction of the leaves is used locally to treat hair loss and dandruff.
