"Two Trumpeter Swans Say Hello" by Patti Deters. Two Trumpeter Swans (Cygnus buccinator) interact as if greeting each other, perhaps discussing the weather on this cold winter day. The morning light and wispy mist on the river makes for a very pretty scene of these two beautiful white birds. Swans are one of the largest waterfowl and can be found in Wisconsin year round, even in winter, especially near open water. Photographed on the St. Croix River near Hudson, WI.
