Description

I was already planning to create this piece when a friend was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer this past March. This break, "Tres Palmas" in Rincon, Puerto Rico was beautiful just like her (she is a local surfer in our community) and since I found out about her diagnosis the morning I was starting this painting I used this painting to send her positive healing thoughts. I thought about her and I cried for her as I painted and painted. I quickly realized she only needed my positivity, I stopped worrying and just started imagining her surfing this wave. I put as much positive energy into this painting and I believe it shows. Toni is a strong, beautiful woman and it was almost like she was receiving my positivity and sending some my way to help with the creative process. The colors became brighter, I moved away from the reference photo and just let it flow.
This original painting was auctioned off at a fundraiser for Toni at the Heinz Mansion in Rincon, Puerto Rico and it caused a delightful bidding war between a handful of participants. This painting raised a nice chunk for Toni and her husband and I am so happy I could help, if even just a little in my small way. I hope you like my painting.
