Long ago children used to play with marbles. As far as I know, as told in legend, kids would try to knock out a friends marble from a circle drawn on the sidewalk (sounds crazy right)? The person who knocked it out, kept the marble as a prize, leaving the other child without his marbles (that's probably where the expression comes from).

Marbles come in all sizes, shapes and colors. Some of these are huge, while others are quite small, each has it's own tactical advantages.
