This is an image of an original oil painting on canvas board from my Still Life series. I was interested in the abstract shapes in the arrangement of the fruit on the geometric tea cloth - the contrast of the round with the straight square and rectangular patterns. The sculptural aspects were also important, so I placed the setting by natural window light for dramatic effect, and arranged the fabric to make undulating forms to make a better relationship with the spherical forms of the apples. The harmonious colour palette also ties the whole together.
