Look what I have found! Surely one of the earliest signs of Spring is when the fluffy, fuzzy, hairy, soft buds of the willow tree make their appearance. Known as catkins, I love to spot these buds on my morning walks.

Margaret Wise Brown (1910-1952) was an American writer of children's books including the beloved Goodnight Moon and the Runaway Bunny.

And she knew exactly when she spotted the pussy willows she could say to herself...'then it is Spring'
