This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

About Ira Shander
Hello, and thank-you for taking time to visit my web site. As a long time illustrator specializing in pen and ink, photography developed as a means for me to become expressive in color. My specialty as a line artist has always been history and architecture. I've created series for major companies, publishers, and cultural institutions throughout the United States. Take time to visit some of my galleries. I welcome commissions such as house portraits and hobby related subject matter. Again, take a peek at the galleries to get a better idea. I hope that you enjoy both means of expression and visit often. Thanks, Ira Shander

Following. Awesome work, love the drawings.
Ira Shander replied:
Thank you both for the appreciation and following. I have been drawing this way since I was very young. Hopefully I've improved some. A lot of my inspiration goes back to a fascination with old woodblock engravings. Like the ones used with Harper's Weekly from 1858-1890. Although the world has changed and I use an iPhone and home computer, actually creating original art requires much thought, involvement, and concentration. Thank you again.

Thank-you Meg. This was great fun to draw. So much variety and texture.
Paul Meinerth
great pen & ink. How do get your lines so straight? The perspective is perfect
Ira Shander replied:
It requires a lot of patience and time Paul. I've been using KOH I NOOR Rapidograph pens since art school. And that was when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Perspective is not hard for me. I've been doing it for a long time. Since I draw lot's of older stuff, I have to be careful with old photo research. All lenses distort perspective and points of view. So I have to be very careful. Sometimes if I need to I'll use a French curve or angle for placement and to assist with detail. Every drawing is different. Working out the textures and patterns and darks and lights can be tricky. Not every drawing comes out the way I visualized it in my head. There are many start overs. I like the looseness and freedom in your work. It has a lot of charm and feeling for place. I like your Victorians. They would be great as illustrations for a local guide.
