Responsible for a wide range of activities such as advising the President on economic and financial issues, the the Department is designed to encourage sustainable economic growth and foster improved governance in financial institutions. The Treasury Department is critical to the Nation’s financial infrastructure as it administers the the production of coin and currency, the disbursement of payments to the American people, collects revenue and borrows funds necessary to runt he federal government. . The Treasury Department also uses actions such as implementing economic sanctions in order to maintain national security.
