Tucked away in southeatern Utah just north of Navajo Nation and Monument Valley is a little gem - Valley of the Gods. Some say there are gods in the rocks! I'm not sure but Valley of the Gods is quite beautiful.
The legend is that those rock formations are places of power where the spirits reside and those in Valley of the Gods are some of the most distinctive. These imposing monoliths are Navajo Warriors frozen in Stone who can be appealed to for protection. They are guardians whose power and strength aid young serviceman going to war.
Ecologist and naturalist Terry Tempest Williams eloquently captured Valley of the Gods landscapes sweeping grandeur thusly: "It is a landscape so startling, so fragile and enduring. At once, it can bring one to their knees in humility and awe." It does more than that. It leaves the body numb, purges it and refills it all at once with a new Life clean and pure, and real.

You look at this photo and it just doesnt tell how many miles you are looking at. I'm sure that this is MILES and that this sandstone formation is HUGE. It is a beautiful thing since God did create it over time with water and wind. The shadows and colors are lovely--gorgeous--and the eye roves, taking in all the details. Thanks for an adventure that I can no longer do and sharing yours.
