The fraternal kiss became famous via Erich Honecker and Leonid Brezhnev, who were photographed exercising the ritual. The photograph became widespread and it was subsequently (1990) transformed into a graffiti painting on the Berlin Wall named My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love.
About Stephen Schwiesow
I am a former educator, having spent 40 years in Nebraska and Iowa as a teacher, counselor, and school psychologist. In 2006 I returned to my love of art and began shooting nature, landscape, wildlife, and weddings. I loved the midwestern states but have also enjoyed traveling across the US and international locations. Taking photos of the special visions I saw prompted many of these photos.
