Vintage movie poster reproduction for ''The Prince and the Showgirl'', a 1957 British-American romantic comedy film directed by and starring Laurence Olivier, alongside Marilyn Monroe. The film is based on Terence Rattigan's play "The Sleeping Prince" and is known for the pairing of these two iconic actors from different sides of the Atlantic.
Set in London in 1911, the film revolves around the encounter between the Grand Duke Charles (Laurence Olivier), who is visiting for the coronation of King George V, and Elsie Marina (Marilyn Monroe), an American showgirl. Elsie becomes embroiled in palace intrigue when the Grand Duke invites her to his residence, leading to a series of humorous and romantic misunderstandings.
