Title
The Panels of Man
Artist
Studio Tolere
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On 140 Lb Lanaquarelle
Description
These are eight separate vertical panels, each one 23 inches high by 7inches plus wide, here montaged as one horizontal panel. The series was done consecutively in a spontaneous way, without thought of what was being formed. Most were painted horizontally. They were painted without stop nor viewed along the way. When finished, they were put away for two weeks. When I then looked at them I saw that each one had a distinct personality, certain ones feminine, and the others masculine. Each one , turned upside down has a different character.
Together they are a portrait of man, with his/her range of aspiration and makeup, folly and uniqueness.
It can be printed like this, and will be a high quality professional print. I am posting this so that the series can be seen all at once, and then one by one. The entire collection has been bought as canvas prints,at 36 inches tall , and used to cover the wall of a room painted in canary yellow as a background color. The series has also been purchased individually, from medium to large (48 inches high). It prints well on canvas and on paper.

I know, I visited this incredible painting in a past and left a praise for your great talent but this remarkable work is irresistibly magnetic and I am happy to say it again - it is really monumental, striking in all its glory of expression, simplicity of form but complexity of essence - I so admire your artistic style and uniqueness, Chana! Wishing you a happy, healthy, creative and inspiring New Year! And looking forward to see your beautiful new works!

Looked thru your work again----a real pleasure----makes me smile all over ! I especially noticed your comment here about putting them away for awhile then looking again. I certainly understand that and I find myself working on two or three at a time to lessen the pressure paid to one, I guess. Will soon visit your site again---thanx for it.

I am delighted you looked through my work Norma, and then chose this to comment on. I also work on a few at a time. I think it's the way my mind works. I can only do so much on one before I have to wait on the inspiration for howto proceed. These were different. They were doe one right after the other through one night to dawn, barely looked at as I went along.

Rich and warming...Bold and Beautiful... I would imagine that they could be totally different in a different direction. It is an amazing series. I tried to turn my computer screen to see how they would appear sideways or upside down. Just fantastic series. F/L
Studio Tolere replied:
Thanks Maria. Do you particularly relate to one in particular? For me it's number 5, The Queen, which most people don't relate to much.

I am in full admiration of you creative expression in this monumental painting- bold, vivid, colorfully expressed and so emotionally charged with deep symbolic underlining - all of it tremendously resonates with me and that is exactly the reason I always have had a great affinity to your artistic style- love this painting, great work! Interesting reply on my comment, Chana. Now answering your guessing question. I think all panels of this painting are outstanding, gorgeous representation of Metamorphosis/Genesis of Man’s'/Woman's/Human Bieng's life in stages, subconsciously expressed in colors. And all separate panels appeal to me in a certain way, but I think they are complimentary and your decision to put them together as a whole magnificent painting - was a clever decision from artistic point of view. Definitely, I would be so happy to see this strikingly stunning painting of yours in Art gallery in a full scale- just would love it!
Studio Tolere replied:
These were done on the horizontal one after another , no stop, through a night. I never knew they were forming a continuous theme. I also had no idea that turned the opposite way, the opposite was being expressed. I gave them a right side up arbitrarily and in order these names more or less: 1) Thinker 2) Blockhead 3)Sorrow 4) Clown 5) Queen 6) Personality (upside down is Two Faced) 7) Conqueror or Liberator (upside down is Suppressed 8) Ridiculous. But like Rorshach, that's just how they struck me. Thanks for your comment Tanya really it is more like a beautiful gift .

This is a magnificent comment,Tanya, one that makes the work itself come more to life, particularly in an online context. I wish you could see what they look like when hanging as eight separate long panels. I particularly identify with one as my essence, would be curious if there was one you related with more. Thanks so much....Chana

This bold, colorful, monumental tribute to the Man/Woman/Human Being – is strikingly powerful, expressed in your very unique signature style – simple from the first view, but extremely complex, philosophical underneath. It is what I call a great ART with a huge visual impact, Chana - fabulous! Fav/Like
