Artist's Description
A vintage movie poster of ''The House on Telegraph Hill'', a 1951 American film noir directed by Robert Wise. The film is known for its suspenseful and atmospheric storytelling, as well as its portrayal of post-World War II San Francisco.
Plot:
The film's story begins with the character of Victoria Kowelska, portrayed by Valentina Cortese, a Polish concentration camp survivor who has lost her husband during World War II. She immigrates to the United States and assumes the identity of her deceased friend, Karin Dernakova, in order to gain passage to America.
Upon arriving in San Francisco, Victoria becomes the guardian of Karin's son, Christopher, and they move into Karin's magnificent mansion on Telegraph Hill. However, as she settles into her new life, Victoria begins to suspect that not everything is as it seems. She becomes increasingly suspicious of Karin's husband, Alan Spender, played by Richard Basehart, and his intentions.
