When faced with sudden rapids on the Voyageur Route, tense concentration and balance are required to keep the canoe upright. It is easy to imagine the perils experienced by early explorers with their canoes laden with the season's catch of furs headed for the Trading Post. I have tried to capture the excitement of the moment experienced by these explorers of today's wilderness adventure. Details of the water are reflected in the wet canoe.
