Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Taken the Winter of 2009, the skies were pale blueish-grey, visibility was moderate at times, it was the first heavy snow we were to receive, in West Lafayette, Indiana. What ensued was a 6 hour trek across West Lafayette, only to end up at the Neil Armstrong School of Engineering. What is currently portrayed is region around the Birk Boilermaker Golf Complex.
I picked up a pencil at 8 years old and never really put it down. My grandmother was my muse as a child. She encouraged me, inspired me, pushed me into mediums and classes, that I as a child would not have attempted. It seems like yesterday, we would walk down the hall, at the old house on Wood Street, she would stand me in front of a watercolor. A watercolor that was painted of her, in her youth. She would say, you can do that too. You are just as capable as the artist. All you have to do is set your mind to it. We did that on and off throughout the years. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of those moments and simply smile. She gave me a gift that will remain with me for the rest of my life and I am grateful. I am native...
