Description
Texas Windmill with Milky Way B W Vertical - We captured this Texas windmill with the water tank in silouette between some trees as the night sky was full of stars with the milky way just overhead. You can see that the windmill was spinning on this night with only a slight breeze we heard the windmill even before we got out of the car. Also we liked the added touch of the silouette of the prickly pear in the scene just to the right of windmill. The night sky with the stars and the galaxy overhead with a windmill is one of those iconic Texas thing we like to capture in a starscape. The milkyway is the galaxy that contains our solar system. The term milky is derived from the appearance from earth of the galaxy. The stars that make up the milky way are giant, luminous spheres of plasma and the galaxies consist of stars, stellar remnants, dust, gas, and dark matter, bound together by gravity. This starry night scene with wind mill and galaxy is iconic scene thoughout the Texas hill country it just finding one that not too close to a city. The Texas night sky can be awesome if you can find a place where it is not overrun with light pollution from nearby cities. Many places have taken the dark skies initiative which reguired cut off lighting which has help a lot. Normally we might go to far west texas for a starscapes, but things are not up and running as normal because of covid 19.
