Useless death and the destruction of lives are constantly around us. From total annihilation of the Twin Towers, useless war in Iraq, and unrest between Israel and Lebanon, to natural disasters, child abuse in the name of God and loss of wealth at the hands of corporations the American Ideal is under attack. One can easily avoid the drama; and with the current state of media conglomerates as it is, it can be full-time job to seek out the truth. The pieces presented in Terror Begins at Home focus on the facts. In three pieces, Cecil educates and informs. While creating two of the pieces the artist acts as journalist, presenting facts in a detached manner. In a third piece, the artist becomes a participant, bearing witness to tragedy and hope. A fourth work is pure entertainment, presenting comic relief in an otherwise dread-filled world.
