Description
These may be summer hats but living in the tropics, we never put them away when the seasons change slightly.
Hats, caps, visors, bonnets, any sun hats made in these Islands are made with Lauhala or coconut palm leaf strands grown no where else but right here in Hawaii, each island, like Kauai providing its own source. Often, I hear tourists say they want to buy lauhala hats, and then they buy woven hats made of coconut. It's not a big mistake and certainly not my position to correct them. Possibly the person weaving a fresh green hat will explain.
Hats and the visor shown in this image are all made of tropical products. The skilled weaver includes designs and patterns. Why buy anything else when we live in the tropics.
