I took a summer day ride up the Mohawk mountain.
The mountain views are beautiful, no matter what time of year you go. This mountain lets you view the Catskill, Taconic and Berkshire ranges.
There is a very interesting history about Mohawk Mountain: the Tunxis and Paugussett Indians would use smoke signals to warn local tribes of the approach of the dreaded Mohawk Indians. That is the reason of the name "Mohawk Mountain". The mountain and surrounding acres are located in the towns of Goshen and Cornwall. There are remnants of buildings and fireplace chimneys that can be found on the land that were once a camp from the 1930's.
The altitude is 1,683 ft., which gives you such fresh & clean air. It was a great day to get out and take a ride! Just another beautiful day in New England!!
