This beautiful draft horse was in a competition in northern British Columbia, Canada. These horses are well loved and well treated. I think they thrive on their own strength. Draft horses (also called work horses or draught horses) were used extensively in the past for pulling stumps, wagons, beer wagons (like Budweiser!), constructing roads, logging, or anywhere where strength was needed before the advent of the mechanized equipment.
