Description
"This barn, known as The Star Barn, is listed as a National Historic Landmark with the National Register of Historic Places and has long been admired and loved by thousands of people from all walks of life and interests from all over the country. It may be one of the most artistically photographed, painted, and replicated buildings in America because of its unique architectural design, building layout, and most notably, its giant five-point stars on each end.
When The Star Barn was built in 1872, landowners dreamed of a bright future for agriculture. The period following the Civil War marked the beginning of a great era of restoration throughout our country. The stars stood for hope and good fortune for the farm and land. It truly was a new beginning.
The Star Barn thrived during a time of agricultural subsistence living and a growing economy; however, in the last 25 years, as age, natural elements, and neglect prevailed, the barn began to show more wear and tear. Because of its popularity, preservation groups, such as Preservation Pennsylvania, made considerable efforts to save The Star Barn from its natural deterioration and ultimate end.
Today marks a new milestone in the story and life of The Star Barn. Agrarian Country, a non-profit organization, has undertaken the process and responsibility for a major restoration project that will not only preserve the barn, but turn it into an agricultural use that the public can enjoy for years to come. With a new owner and a new plan in place, this website will provide you with the latest information about its history and its future. Please visit each part of our website and learn what stirred the passion of so many people about The Star Barn for so many years." Agrarian Country

David, wonderful composition with the deep blue sky, reflection on the water and the Star Barn being a bit off center. I live in Camp Hill and drive by it on my way to Lancaster. I wish adequate funds had been collected to refurbish the Barn to it's original condition. I voted.
