Description
Mellor sisters, Louisa and Charlotte, who were part of the ill fated Martin and Willey handcart company of Mormon pioneers. Depicted gathering wood near Red Buttes, Wyoming where the group were trapped by early snow in Oct.1856. ( I was interested in painting these two young women as I am a direct descendent of Charlotte)
