Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, gloss medium, white drawing paper, altered newspaper, stablio pencils, and acrylics glazing, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.
Meaning behind the art: Got up in the morning to a winter flurry coming down the house quiet and how pretty it looked outside. Looking at all the houses and the white blanket over all the surfaces visible. When I selected my papers for this process, I decided to just use two pieces. One a white and the other blues, green, yellows and a bit of red too. Just as I was ready to get started on creating this collage, I decided to video record the process. So, there is a video on You Tube, titled Snow Day TDT.
Bio Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove IL not far from her grandfathers farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 30 years. Shes continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has led her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region. Her works has won many awards and most recently the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit with the National Collage Society.
