The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

We have a good friend whose husband is a smoke jumper for US Forest Service and she suggested that this activity might be a great subject for a painting. I took a trip out to a spot in Redding, California where USFS trains smoke jumpers. It was pretty dramatic and I was able to get some great photos to work from. This painting is the result and I hope that it will convey appreciation for the guys that do this very important (however, dangerous) job in order to keep us safe.

Born in San Bernardino, California in 1940, John Stewart moved to Glendale, near Los Angeles a year later. He developed interest in drawing at an early age and began art training at the age of twelve. Stewart studied with the Famous Artist's Schools in 1956; received a scholarship to Chouinard Art Institute in 1958; and later attended the Art Center School in Los Angeles, CA. Teachers and artists who influenced him were Robert Irwin and Bob Winquist. He had a 25-year career as a Scenic Artist for the entertainment industry with projects for television, motion picture and stage productions such as 'The Adams Family', 'One From the Heart', and 'Xanadu' .
