When cowboys chew tobacco, it sometimes comes in a round tin, which typically they'll keep in their back pocket. From sitting in the saddle and riding, there is usually a ring that will form on the back pocket, as you see here. It's from the can which has a tin edge, that wears down the denim from all the movement. This is another image that looks really great printed on a bigger canvas.
