Description
Skin sweat glands. Light micrograph of a transverse section through skin from a human foot. The skin is made up of an outer epidermis (across top) and a lower epidermis (deep purple). Sweat glands (pinkish-purple) are found in the dermis (the skin layer below the epidermis) as balls of twisted glandular tubes, which unite to form the sweat ducts (purple) which secrete sweat through pores in the epidermis. Magnification: x103 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
