The sculpture depicts a map of ireland resting on two pairs of hands. This is to symbolise the coming together of all the people, supporting Ireland, and taking its destiny in their hands. The sculpture is made from Kilkenny limestone, quarried in north Kilkenny. The sculpture was created by Kilkenny based artist RuairĂ Carroll (Threecastles).
