About John Albrecht
Artwork has allowed a means of escape and immersion into a subject away from my daily surroundings. Whether a particular photograph, still life, landscape scene in plein air, the challenge to focus on the subject to create a piece of art is the challenge. The experience of growing up on a barrier island pulled me toward nautical scenes of the Lowcountry. My focus remains on the story behind the particular piece, which is produced by combining dynamic light, color including neutrals and lost edges, as well as contrasting values that bring the viewer to the focal point.
