Description
My personal montage of this vintage postage stamp from Monaco commemorating the centenary of the English Football Association in 1963. Although his debut was only in 1963, I can't help but think of this image as depicting the great England goalkeeper Gordon Banks. The highlights of Banks's career lay in the future at this point, but that only makes this little postage stamp seem prophetic in nature. In particular, it would seem to prefigure what is considered by many to be the greatest footballing save ever, from a shot by Pele in the 1970 World Cup competition. Pele himself later nominated Banks as one of the 100 greatest footballers ever (not bad for a humble goalie).

Hi Hannes Thanks for your feedback. Just looking at your NY photographs - really nice. I was there myself and for me it was an amazing experience as a photographer. Cheers anyway, Andy
