Royal Street, with all of its fascinating balconies, is one of my favorites! I've painted this corner in so many different ways and each time with different results. When I begin a new painting, I'm focusing on one facet of this fascinating street. Here, I'm painting the grocery, which used to be the A&P, now a local grocer, Rouse's. All who lived in the Quarter have shopped (or as New Orleanians say, "made their groceries") here. I've spent many hours wandering up and down those crowded aisles.
