This was a round up starting at daybreak. An oil wash grisaille sketch with Indian red, yellow ochre and permanent green colors were applied as a flat middle value tone first, Then I pulled out the light patterns (with a cheese cloth) and struck in the darker accents. Thee next step will be painting this value sketch in color.
