Description
"ROUND WARBLER" by KAREN WILES
The one thing I love most about Mother Nature is that one never knows when and what they may encounter...
For instance this beautiful baby warbler was being chased by another larger bird. In his moment of fright, he flew into my sliding glass door and was dazed for a moment. I checked to make sure his neck wasn't broken and to my surprise he only appeared a little sleepy. I placed my hand down next to him and this little round ping pong shaped bird hopped upon my finger. I lifted him to a tree and into an orchid I had growing there long enough to capture this image. He regained his composure after a few moments and flew off into the sunset. I had my wonderful moment with one of God's smallest creatures and even though it lasted only minutes, it will be a minute I will remember for a very long time...these special moments we have the privilege of spending with Mother Nature are just that..."special" and I am thankful for these moments when life slows down just a bit.
There are a number of Passeriformes (perching birds) called warblers. They are not necessarily closely related to one another, but share some characteristics, such as being fairly small, vocal, and insectivorous.
They are mostly brownish or dull greenish in color. They tend to be more easily heard than seen. Identification can be difficult and may be made on the basis of song alone. To English-speaking Europeans, warblers are the archetypal "LBJs" (little brown jobs).
